Tour Overview

After a 35-45 minute training on how to safely operate the Segway, you'll explore the Sausalito waterfront for two hours! Reservations are required. Tours are limited to eight riders and ages 12 and up are welcome. All tours start on time, so please arrive 15 minutes early.

Specific Sights

Tour explores the Sausalito waterfront, and makes frequent stops for photos and refreshments. Highlights include houseboat communities and legendary wooden boats in the many harbors, the Bay Model, famous recording studios, bayside estuaries and an overview of Sausalito history.

Most tours will stop for a beverage.

The Segway Human Transporter has captivated the public's attention since March 2003. The Segway is the worlds first and only self balancing electric transport mechanism. Forward and backward maneuvering is guided by rider's natural motions. Emissions and noise free touring, powered by rechargeable LIoN battery packs. Segways are more manuverable and stop faster than bikes.

Rules of the Road for Segways in Sausalito: Segways are allowed in most places in Sausalito. The goal of our guided tours is to safely coexist with both visitors and residents of this special city. We use a combination of designated bike paths, trails and low speed-light traffic streets to conduct our guided tours.

We stress courtesy, rules of the road and common sense when riding a Segway in the city. The Sausalito Electric Tour Company advocates safe tour routes, careful Segway use and detailed rider education. We want a positive tour experience for our guests and encourage respect for residents and visitors sharing the roads, sidewalks and bike paths in the city.

Eco Friendly Touring: Our goal is to let guests enjoy riding an eco-friendly Segway, see more sights that they could cover on foot and have lots of fun. An added benifit for the environment is a few less tour buses on the streets of the city each day. The San Francisco Electric Tour company will be solar powered in 2008!

Sausalito Guided Segway Tour departures: April through October tours depart daily at 11:30 am. From November until March tours depart Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 11:30 am.
We require 6 guests to run the Sausalito Tour. Individual reservations will be combined into groups of 6 as needed.

For Segway Tour: All guests must be at least 12 years old AND weigh between 100 - 250 lbs. (45 - 113 kg.) No refunds if you do not meet these criteria.

For rider safety please no flip flops, sandals or high heel shoes.

SAUSALITO LOCATION: Segway Tours depart from 1000 Bridgeway at the corner of Bridgeway and Caledonia Street. Look for the Segway Guide / Van in the large public parking lot behind Caffe Trieste. Two blocks north of the Sausalito Ferry Terminal. The Ferry Dock is located at the foot of El Portal East of Bridgeway.

Golden Gate Ferry Schedule: Departing from Ferry Building at the Foot of Market Street in San Francisco: Suggested departure is the 10:15 AM (weekdays) or 10:40 AM(weekends) ferry. These times are ideal for participating on our 11:30 AM tour.  Sausalito Schedule

Golden Gate Ferry Family Fare: On weekends and holidays, youth 12 and under travel free with full fare paying adult (limit two youth per adult).All ferry fares and schedules subject to change.

Important: Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time to check in and start your tour and training on time. The tour and training will last 2 1/2 to three hours and include stops for a refreshment and lots of pictures. Tours are limited to nine riders. Reservations are required.

Return Details:
Tour concludes at the original departure point in Sausalito.

Payment:
Payment in advance by major credit card; Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover Card. An additional damage deposit must be secured with a Credit Card upon check in for your tour.

This tour must be booked at least 12 hours in advance of your travel date. Your confirmation for this product will be received within 12- 24 hours subject to availability.

Who can ride a Segway? Are Segways safe for children or people with disabilities?

Riding a Segway is similar to riding a bike-it's intuitive but nobody is born knowing how to operate it. That's why we offer 35-45 minutes of training so you can get familiar with riding a Segway. A Segway is not an ideal mode of touring for people with some mobility issues.

Segway riding is not recommended for pregnant women. Unfortunately, pregnant women will not be permitted to participate.

All guests must be able to easily and quickly step on and off the Segway without any assistance, which requires physical abilities similar to climbing and descending stairs without assistance or use of a handrail. Rider must be able to operate the steering control with his or her left hand.

The Segway is not appropriate for those weighing under 100 pounds or over 250 pounds(46-113 kilos.) Helmets and reflective vests are provided and required. We do require that all riders be at least 12 years old. Riders under 18 must be accompanied by parent or guardian.

NOTE: To All Guests for the Segway Tour: All guests must be age 12 or older and weigh between 100-250 lbs. No refunds if you do not meet these criteria.

Liability Agreement:
All customers will be required to review and sign our tour agreement and liability waiver before starting their tour. The Sausalito Electric Tour Company assumes no responsibility for delays caused by accidents, breakdown, bad conditions of the road and other conditions beyond control, in addition to insufficient numbers of guests. Not responsible for loss or damage to property.

Changes to a Reservation and Cancellation and No Show Policy:
Reservations require a full deposit via Credit Card. We will send an e-mail confirmation of the date and time of your tour. Deposits are fully refundable if the reservation is cancelled 3 days -72 hours or more prior to the scheduled tour. We have a limited amount of Segways. No Shows are charged in full. The deposit WILL NOT be refunded for any reason within 72 hours of your scheduled tour. A signed liability waiver is required prior to your tour departure.

IMPORTANT Check your Confirmation for Correct Date and Time:
It is your responsibility to be at the designated tour location on the correct date. Please check your confirmation carefully. No refund for no-shows.

Languages:
Segway tours are conducted in English.

Meals Souvenirs and Miscellaneous Costs:
Tour prices do not include Meals, Beverages, Admission Fees, Ferry Tolls or Souvenirs.

Tour Size, Routing and Weather:
We reserve the right to change the size or routing of the tour to meet demands for that specific day. The Bay Area is famous for the fog! Our tours run fog, light rain or shine. We always suggest multiple layers of warm clothing for any outdoor activity. Summer afternoon temperatures can be in the 50's. Rain gear is available for those infrequent rainy days. Segways are designed to run in any weather. If seasonal fog or weather obscures the view, tour routes may be altered. You will not be charged if we cancel a tour.

Hotel Pick Up:
We do not offer Hotel Pick up service for our tours.
